Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 24, 2026

lookup.law is a free reference for federal statutes and court rules.

Short version: the site sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and runs no tracking code in your browser. It does measure aggregate traffic, entirely from the server side.

Nothing runs in your browser

Because nothing is written to your device and no tracking code runs in your browser, there is no cookie banner here and nothing to opt out of.

Traffic measurement

The site is hosted on Netlify and uses Netlify Web Analytics, which measures traffic at Netlify’s edge servers rather than by running code in your browser. It reports aggregate figures only:

There is no cross-site tracking and no advertising profile, and these figures do not identify you to the site. Netlify retains roughly 30 days of this data.

Server logs

Separately, Netlify’s servers record standard technical information when a page is requested — IP address, browser user agent, URL, and timestamp — and use it to deliver the site and protect against abuse. That processing is Netlify’s, under Netlify’s privacy policy.

Links to other sites

Pages link out to official sources — the Office of the Law Revision Counsel, GovInfo, and Congress.gov — and to a LinkedIn profile. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else’s site, governed by their practices rather than this policy.

Children

The site is a general-audience legal reference. It is not directed to children and knowingly collects information from no one.

Your rights

The site keeps no accounts and no records that identify you. If you have a privacy question or request, including under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, write to lookuplawadmin@gmail.com. Requests about Netlify’s own processing of IP addresses and server logs may need to be directed to Netlify.

Changes

Any revised policy will be posted here with a new “last updated” date. If the site ever begins collecting more than is described above, that will be disclosed here before it starts.
